How to split a workflow into paths with an If/Else condition
In the workflow, click the +, choose If/Else, name the condition as a question, pick Build Your Own (or a ready scenario), set the rule for each branch and save. Contacts who meet the rule go down that branch; everyone else goes down the Else branch.

Before you start
- The workflow must already have a trigger.
- Think about the question you want to ask (for example, "Does the contact have the VIP tag?") and what should happen for each answer.
Where to find it
Automation › Workflows › (open the workflow) › + › If/Else
Step by step
- Open the workflow and click the + where you want to split the path.
- Choose If/Else.
- In the name field (default "Condition"), type a question, for example "Has VIP tag?".
- Under Scenario, pick a ready rule or Build Your Own for full flexibility.
- In the first branch, give it a name (for example, "Yes, VIP") and set the rule: choose the data type (for example, contact tags), the operator (for example, includes) and the value ("vip").
- For more cases, click + Add Branch and set another rule. Give every branch a clear name.
- The Else branch automatically catches anyone who doesn't meet any rule.
- Click Save Action.
- On the workflow canvas, add actions under each branch with its +.
- Save and publish the workflow.
Conditions based on the appointment
- If the workflow starts with Customer Booked Appointment or Appointment Status, If/Else also shows an Appointment option.
- You can check whether the appointment was rescheduled (true/false), or its start date and end date (for example, today, tomorrow, before or after a date).
- You can only use one appointment filter per condition. For more, use several If/Else steps in a row.
Tips
- Always name the condition and its branches: with several If/Else steps, it's the only way to understand the workflow at a glance.
- You can mix rules of different types (contact details, date and time, appointment) in the same workflow.
- The condition is checked the moment the contact reaches it. If the data changes later, the contact doesn't switch branches.
Common problems
- The Appointment option doesn't show in If/Else → The workflow doesn't start with an appointment trigger. Add Customer Booked Appointment or Appointment Status as a trigger.
- Every contact goes down the Else branch → The rule isn't matching: check the exact value (same tag name, field filled in) and the chosen operator. See the details in Execution Logs.
- The branches have no actions → After saving the If/Else, you need to add actions to each branch with its own +.
- I can't publish because of the If/Else → A branch has an incomplete rule. Click Review issues and complete the flagged rule.
