How to fix Google or LinkedIn ad campaign errors before publishing

Under Marketing › Ad Manager, open the campaign and click Publish. If you see Fix errors before publishing, open the list, click each error to jump to the missing field (headline, description, website URL, keywords, dates, images), fix it, save and click Publish again.

Before you start

  • Your ad account (Google or LinkedIn) must be connected to the ad manager.
  • Have the ad elements ready: headlines, descriptions, landing page URL, keywords (Google), images, logos or videos, and valid start and end dates.
Where to find it

Marketing › Ad Manager › (campaign) › Publish › Fix errors

Step by step

  1. In the left menu, open Marketing and click Ad Manager.
  2. Open the Google or LinkedIn campaign and review the campaign, ad groups (or ad sets) and ads.
  3. Click Publish. The system checks the campaign before sending it to the platform.
  4. If the Fix errors before publishing prompt appears, click Fix errors to open the full list of issues (for example: missing headlines, missing descriptions, missing website URL, missing keywords, invalid dates, missing images or videos).
  5. Click an error: you're taken straight to the affected field or section. Fix it.
  6. Return to the review screen and repeat for each error in the list.
  7. Save your changes and click Publish again. The list is rebuilt; errors you fixed disappear.
  8. For Google campaigns, wait for the pre-publish checks to finish (fields, advertising and platform requirements). If no errors remain, the campaign is submitted to the platform.

Tips

  • Work through the whole list at once instead of fixing one error and publishing each time: it saves attempts.
  • For LinkedIn carousel ads, the message tells you which card is missing a headline or destination URL.
  • The Opportunity Score is a different thing: it's recommendations to improve the campaign, not errors that block publishing.
  • For Google Demand Gen campaigns, check images, logos, videos, headlines, long headlines and descriptions, and avoid duplicate creative content.

Common problems

  • The Publish button doesn't complete → Open the error list; required fields are still empty.
  • I fixed the error but it's still listed → Save your changes and click Publish again so the checks run once more.
  • One ad has several errors → Each missing field is one error; work through every error for that ad.
  • The start date is in the past → Update the campaign schedule with valid dates.
  • The platform rejected the campaign after the system showed no errors → The internal checks don't replace Google's or LinkedIn's policy review. Read the reason returned by the platform and adjust the ad.

Frequently asked questions

Does passing the checks guarantee approval?

No. The checks catch missing or invalid fields before submission; final approval is up to the ad platform.

Does a low Opportunity Score block publishing?

No. It's only a recommendation; only validation errors block publishing.
