Agent studio

How to create your first agent in Agent Studio

In AI Agents › Agent Studio, create a managed agent and describe in plain words what it should do, when it should start and what information and actions it can use. Review the suggested setup, test it in the test chat and publish.

Updated on

Before you start

  • Your user needs permission to access and manage Agent Studio managed agents.
  • Think of one concrete task (for example, "when a contact gets the New Customer tag, send a welcome message and create a task for the team").
  • If the agent will answer questions, create a knowledge base first in AI Agents › Knowledge Base.
  • To chat with customers on messaging channels, Conversation AI is usually the simpler choice.
Where to find it

AI Agents › Agent Studio › Managed Agents

Step by step

Describe the agent

  1. In the left menu, open AI Agents and click Agent Studio.
  2. Create a new managed agent. You can start from a ready-made template (sales, marketing, support) or from scratch.
  3. In the text box, describe in plain words:
    • the agent's role (for example, "welcome assistant");
    • when it should start (the event);
    • what information it can use (which knowledge base);
    • what actions it can take (tags, fields, workflows, tasks, notes, appointments, emails).
  4. Send the description. The system builds a draft agent and shows its setup in a side panel.

Review triggers and actions

  1. Check the suggested trigger. Examples: Contact Created, Opportunity Created, Opportunity Status Changed, Tag Changed, Form Submitted, Facebook Lead Form Submitted, Survey Submitted, Appointment, Chat or Schedule.
  2. If it's a form, Facebook Page or survey, pick it from the list. You don't need to look up any IDs.
  3. Check the knowledge base and actions selected.
  4. To change anything, ask in the chat (for example, "make the tone more formal" or "don't send emails on weekends"). The system changes only what you asked for and asks a question if something is unclear.

Test and publish

  1. Use the test chat to simulate the situation and see what the agent would do.
  2. Adjust the description until the result is right.
  3. Click Publish. The agent now runs on its own every time the trigger happens.

Tips

  • Start with a small, single-task agent. Once it works, build more.
  • Agents go through draft, test and publish. Always test before publishing.
  • Agents can also create images, audio and video and save them to Media Storage if you ask for that in the description.

Common problems

  • I don't see Agent Studio → Your user doesn't have the managed agents permission. Ask an admin to enable it.
  • The agent doesn't run when it should → Check that it's published and that the trigger is right (for example, the exact tag or the correct form).
  • The agent took an action I didn't want → Ask in the chat to remove that action or state clearly what it must not do, then test and publish again.
  • The agent replies without using my business information → Say in the description which knowledge base to use and confirm it in the setup panel.

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from Conversation AI?

Conversation AI chats with customers on messaging channels. A managed agent in Agent Studio works like a teammate: it runs on its own when something happens in the CRM and gets tasks done.
