How to import contacts from a CSV or Excel file
In Contacts, click Import, choose Contacts, upload a .csv file, map each column to a field and confirm. If your list is in Excel, save it as CSV first.

Before you start
- Only users with admin access can import contacts.
- The file must be in .csv format. Excel (.xlsx) or Google Sheets files aren't accepted directly: in Excel, use File › Save As › CSV; in Google Sheets, use File › Download › Comma-separated values (.csv).
- The file must be under 30 MB (split larger files into several) and contain only one sheet.
- The first row can't be blank: it must be the header row (for example, First Name, Last Name, Email, Phone).
- Each row needs at least a name, email or phone number.
- If your file has columns that don't exist in Elooo System (for example, "Last visit date"), create those custom fields first.
Where to find it
Contacts › Import
Step by step
- In the left menu, click Contacts.
- Click the Import button.
- Choose what to import: Contacts (or Contacts and Opportunities, if the file also has deals) and click Next.
- Upload your .csv file.
- Choose the import type: Create new contacts, Update existing ones, or Create and Update. To find existing contacts, the system checks in this order: Contact ID › email › phone.
- Map each column in your file to an Elooo System field (for example, the "Mobile" column to the Phone field).
- To skip a column, leave it unmapped and check the option to not import unmapped columns.
- Check Don't update empty values if you don't want blank cells to erase data the contact already has.
- Under preferences you can optionally: create a smart list for the imported contacts, add them to a workflow, or tag them (recommended, so you can find them later).
- Review the mapping, confirm that your contacts have agreed to hear from you, and click Import.
- Track progress in Contacts › Bulk Actions. Click Show Stats to see how many came in and download the error log.
Tips
- Remove spaces, dashes and letters from phone numbers and include the country code (for example, +15551234567).
- Remove duplicate rows from the file before importing.
- Add a tag such as "imported-october" in step 7 so you can easily filter, fix or even delete that batch if something goes wrong.
Common problems
- The file isn't accepted → Make sure it's saved as .csv (not .xlsx), has only one sheet, is under 30 MB and has headers in the first row.
- Some rows didn't import → In Contacts › Bulk Actions, open Show Stats for the import and check the errors tab. Usually the row has no name, email or phone, or the email/phone is badly formatted. Fix it in the file and import just those rows.
- A dropdown field came in empty → The value in your file doesn't match any of the field's options (for example, "yes" instead of "Yes"). Fix the value in the file or add the option to the field, then import again.
- I can't find the right field to map a column to → The field doesn't exist yet. Create it in Settings › Custom Fields and start the import again.
- I don't see the Import button → Your user isn't an admin. Ask an admin on your account for access.
