How to recover a deleted workflow

Go to Automation › Workflows, open the Deleted tab, find the workflow and click Restore. The workflow returns to the root of the list as a draft, with its original triggers and actions; publish it again. Deleted workflows stay available for 30 days.

Updated on

Before you start

  • Only an account admin can restore workflows.
  • Do it within 30 days: after that, the workflow disappears from the Deleted tab.
  • Wait at least 30 minutes after deleting; before that, the deletion is still in progress and restoring isn't possible.
Where to find it

Automation › Workflows › Deleted tab › Restore

Step by step

  1. Open Automation › Workflows.
  2. Click the Deleted tab. All workflows deleted in the last 30 days are listed.
  3. Find the workflow and click Restore.
  4. The workflow returns to the main list, at the root (outside folders), in draft status.
  5. Open it, check the triggers and actions (they're restored with their original configuration) and move it to the right folder if needed.
  6. Click Publish to turn it back on.

Tips

  • The workflow's enrollment history and Execution Logs are kept after restoring.
  • The folder permissions the workflow had don't come back: the restored workflow sits at the root and follows the permissions of wherever you place it.
  • To avoid accidental deletion, the system asks you to type the workflow's name when deleting; read carefully before confirming.

Common problems

  • The workflow isn't in Deleted → More than 30 days have passed, or 30 minutes haven't passed since it was deleted. Also check you're using an admin account.
  • I can't delete the workflow I just restored → That's normal: a restored workflow can't be deleted for the next 48 hours.
  • The contacts that were in the workflow didn't come back → Contacts going through the workflow when it was deleted aren't restored; those sitting in a Wait action were removed from that execution. Add them again if needed.
  • The restored workflow isn't firing → It was restored as a draft. Open it and click Publish.
