How to create a blog RSS feed to share posts by email and social media

Go to Sites › Blogs, click the Settings gear and open the RSS section. Click Add RSS Feed, name it, choose the blog, the number of posts and whether to include full content, then copy the generated address to use in an RSS email campaign or in the social planner.

Updated on

Before you start

  • The blog must be created under Sites › Blogs and connected to a domain in your account.
  • Only published posts go into the feed. Drafts and scheduled posts don't appear until they're published.
  • Decide where you'll use the feed: in an RSS email campaign (under Marketing › Emails) or in automatic posts from the Social Planner.
Where to find it

Sites › Blogs › Settings (gear icon) › RSS › Add RSS Feed

Step by step

  1. In the left menu, open Sites and click Blogs.
  2. Click the Settings gear icon.
  3. In the left menu, open the RSS section.
  4. Click Add RSS Feed.
  5. Fill in:
    • Feed name (internal, e.g. "Weekly newsletter").
    • Source blog.
    • Post count included in the feed.
    • Full content: turn on to include the posts' full text in the feed; leave off to send only the title and summary.
  6. Copy the generated RSS URL.
  7. Use the address wherever you need it:
    • In an RSS-type email campaign under Marketing › Emails, to send new posts to your contacts automatically.
    • In the Social Planner, in automatic posts from RSS, to publish each new post to your social networks.

Tips

  • The copied address keeps working even if you later change the blog or options in the feed menu. For a feed with different settings, create a new feed.
  • You can edit an existing feed in the same RSS section to change, for example, the post count.
  • Create different feeds for different uses: one with titles only for social media and another with full content for the newsletter.

Common problems

  • The feed is empty → The blog has no published posts, or isn't connected to a domain yet. Publish a post and check the domain in the blog settings.
  • New posts don't reach the email → The RSS campaign reads the feed at the frequency set in the campaign. Check that the campaign is active and the post is published, not a draft.
  • The email shows code instead of text → The post has formatting the email template doesn't interpret. Use the RSS block in the email builder and, if needed, turn off full content in the feed.
  • I changed the blog in the feed but posts still come from the old one → The copied address keeps its original configuration. Create a new feed and swap the address in the campaign or planner.
