How to post in a group and pin a post to the top

Inside the group, open the channel, write a title and body, attach images, videos, PDFs or a video link, and click Post. To keep it at the top of the channel or the home timeline, click the post's three dots and choose Pin; to take it off the top, choose Unpin.

Updated on

Before you start

  • The channel you want to post in must already exist. If it doesn't, create it first with + Add Channel.
  • Have your files ready (images, GIFs, PDFs, video) or the video link (YouTube, Vimeo, Loom or Wistia).
  • Pinning, moving and deleting other people's posts are owner and admin actions. Any member can post, comment, react and delete their own posts.
Where to find it

Memberships › Communities › Groups › (open the group) › (channel) › Create Post

Step by step

Create a post

  1. Open Memberships › Communities, enter the group and click the right channel in the left panel.
  2. Click the new post box.
  3. Write a short title that sums up the topic.
  4. Write the body: an announcement, a question, a discussion starter.
  5. Optionally add attachments (images, GIFs, PDFs, video) or paste a video link from YouTube, Vimeo, Loom or Wistia: the video is embedded in the post.
  6. Check the channel selected in the post's dropdown.
  7. Click Post. The post shows up in the channel and on the group's home timeline, which gathers posts from every channel.

Pin a post to the top

  1. Find the post you want to feature.
  2. Click the post's three dots.
  3. Choose Pin. If you pin it inside the channel, it stays at the top of that channel; if you pin it on the home timeline, it stays at the top of the home timeline.
  4. To take it off the top, repeat and choose Unpin. The post stays in its original place.

Move a post to another channel

  1. Click the post's three dots.
  2. Choose Move to another channel and pick the destination channel.
  3. Confirm. Comments and reactions move along with the post.

Delete a post

  1. Click the post's three dots.
  2. Choose Delete and confirm. Admins can delete any post; members only their own.

Tips

  • Members react with several reaction types (like, heart, support, idea and more) and reply to comments in threads. Totals stay accurate across devices.
  • Save pinning for what really matters: group rules, a welcome post, this week's event. Too many pinned posts stop drawing attention.
  • For notices nobody should comment on, create an announcement channel: only admins can post there.
  • You can tag a channel or an event inside the post text to link to it directly.

Common problems

  • I don't see the Pin option → Only owners and admins can pin posts. Ask an admin to do it or to change your role.
  • The video isn't embedded → Paste a direct link to a YouTube, Vimeo, Loom or Wistia video. Links from other platforms show as plain links.
  • I posted in the wrong channel → Use the three dots › Move to another channel. No need to delete and rewrite.
  • A member says they can't post → Either the channel is an announcement channel (admins only) or they haven't been approved into the group yet. Check under Members.
  • My pinned post is no longer at the top → Someone unpinned it, or you pinned it somewhere else (channel and home timeline pins are independent). Pin it again where you want it.

Frequently asked questions

Can members delete other people's comments?

No. Each member can only delete what they wrote. Admins and moderators can delete any post or comment.

Can I schedule a post?

The feature doesn't include scheduling group posts. For notices on a set date, use an event in the group calendar or an announcement channel.
