How to start an SMS group chat with several contacts
In Conversations, click Create New Message › Message Contacts › Group Conversation, pick the sending number, add 2 to 9 participants and click Create Conversation. It only works with +1 (US and Canada) numbers from the Elooo System phone system; participants can't be changed afterwards.

Before you start
- The sending number must be from the Elooo System phone system, with SMS and MMS enabled, and be a regular (long code) +1 US or Canada number. Toll-free numbers and short codes can't send group texts.
- Every participant must have a US or Canada phone number.
- A group has 2 to 9 participants.
- Contacts on Do Not Disturb can't be added to a group.
- Once created, the group is fixed: you can't add or remove people or change the sending number.
- If your user only sees assigned contacts, you can only create groups with those contacts. To send in the group, you need access to the number used.
Where to find it
Conversations › Create New Message › Message Contacts › Group Conversation
Step by step
Create the group on desktop
- Open Conversations.
- Click the blue Create New Message button.
- Choose Message Contacts. (For a group with teammates only, choose Message Teammates.)
- Select Group Conversation.
- Pick the number the messages will be sent from.
- Add the participants (between 2 and 9) and click Create Conversation.
- Type your message and click Send. Everyone receives it and everyone sees each other's replies.
Create the group on mobile
- In the Elooo System mobile app, tap Conversations in the bottom bar.
- Start a new conversation and choose the Group Chat type.
- Select the sending number and pick the contacts (2 to 9).
- Optionally name the group so it's easy to find later.
- Tap Start Chat.
Use the group
- Send and receive messages like in a regular conversation; you can share images and files.
- The participants are listed at the top of the conversation. Click the participants icon to search by name or phone number.
- If a contact is deleted or their number is edited, messages keep going to the original number and an Updated or Deleted tag shows next to the name.
Tips
- Give groups clear names (for example, "Smith family – March appointment") so the team can tell them apart in the list.
- To change participants, create a new group with the right list; the old one stays as history.
Common problems
- I don't see the Group Conversation option → The number you picked isn't a regular +1 US or Canada number from the Elooo System phone system, or SMS/MMS isn't enabled on it. Check Settings › Phone Numbers.
- I can't add a contact to the group → The contact is on Do Not Disturb or doesn't have a US/Canada number. Turn off DND on the contact record or leave them out of the group.
- The group stopped sending messages → A participant turned on Do Not Disturb after the group was created. Create a new group without that person (or wait until they opt back in).
- I want to add or remove someone → Not possible in an existing group. Create a new group with the right participants.
- The attachment didn't arrive → The file is too large for the carriers. Compress it and send again.
Frequently asked questions
Can all participants see older messages?
Yes. Every member of the group sees the full message history.
How do notifications work?
Just like a regular conversation: every new message triggers a notification, including push alerts in the mobile app.
