Affiliates

How to add affiliates to your program (one by one, by CSV or from your contacts)

Under Marketing › Affiliate Manager › Affiliate › Add, choose New Affiliate (email, name and campaign), Upload Affiliate (CSV file with name and email) or Import from Contacts. Then, from each affiliate's three-dot menu, you can add, remove, suspend or move them between campaigns.

Before you start

  • Have at least one affiliate campaign created (choosing a campaign is required when adding).
  • For each affiliate you need an email, first name and last name.
  • For bulk import, prepare a .csv file with first name, last name and email columns (you can download the sample file on the upload screen). The file limit is 50 MB.
Where to find it

Marketing › Affiliate Manager › Affiliate › Add

Step by step

Add one affiliate manually

  1. In the left menu, open Marketing and click Affiliate Manager.
  2. Open Affiliate and click Add › New Affiliate.
  3. Fill in the email, first name, last name and, if relevant, the company name.
  4. Under Assign to Campaign, pick the campaign.
  5. Click Save (or Save & Continue to fill in more profile details).

Upload several affiliates by CSV

  1. Click Add › Upload Affiliate.
  2. If you need the template, click Sample File.
  3. Drag your .csv into the upload area (or browse for it) and click Next.
  4. In the Map step, match each column in the file to the right field (first name, last name, email).
  5. In the Details step, pick the campaign and the remaining options and finish the import.

Import from contacts

  1. Click Add › Import from Contacts.
  2. Pick the contacts in your account you want to turn into affiliates and the campaign.
  3. Confirm. Those contacts now also exist as affiliates.

Manage an affiliate without opening their profile

  1. Under Affiliate, find the affiliate and click the three-dot menu next to their name.
  2. Choose Manage Affiliate and then the action: Add to Campaign, Remove from Campaign, Suspend (or Unsuspend) or Move to Campaign.
  3. When moving, pick the destination campaign, decide what happens to existing customers (they stay in the old campaign or move with the affiliate) and whether to send the welcome email. Click Move Affiliate.

Tips

  • Import from Contacts creates affiliates; it's different from adding a contact as a lead under an affiliate (that's done from the affiliate's profile).
  • You can automate all of this with workflows: the Add to affiliate manager, Add to affiliate campaign, Update affiliate and Remove from affiliate campaign actions (see the related article).
  • Once added, the affiliate signs in to the affiliate portal to copy their link and see leads and commissions.

Common problems

  • I can't save the affiliate → Email, first name, last name and campaign are required. Fill in all four.
  • The CSV import fails or maps incorrectly → Make sure the file has first name, last name and email columns, is a .csv and is under 50 MB. Use the sample file as a base.
  • A suspended affiliate still shows up → Suspending doesn't delete: the affiliate stays in the list, but their links stop tracking and they can't receive leads or commissions. When unsuspended, the links start working again on their own.
  • I moved the affiliate and recurring commissions stayed in the old campaign → That was the option chosen when moving ("keep in the old campaign"). There's no automatic undo: move them again and choose "move the customers".

Frequently asked questions

Can I add the same affiliate to several campaigns?

Yes. Use Add to Campaign in the three-dot menu; they get one link per campaign.

Does the affiliate get an email when added?

That depends on the campaign's welcome email settings; when moving, you can choose whether to send it.
