How to add an automatic first comment and hashtag groups to your posts

Go to Marketing › Social Planner › New Post › Create New Post, click the # icon to create a named hashtag group (up to 30 hashtags per post) and apply it, and fill in the Follow up Comment field so the planner posts that comment right after the post goes live.

Updated on

Before you start

  • Have your networks connected to the Social Planner.
  • The follow-up comment works on Facebook Pages and Groups (in groups, the comment is posted as the Page chosen in the planner settings), Instagram professional accounts, LinkedIn profiles and pages, and X accounts.
  • Prepare the list of hashtags you use often (by topic, product or campaign).
Where to find it

Marketing › Social Planner › New Post › Create New Post › # icon and Follow up Comment field

Step by step

Create and apply a hashtag group

  1. In the left menu, open Marketing and click Social Planner.
  2. Click New Post › Create New Post and choose the accounts.
  3. In the text area, click the # icon.
  4. In the window that opens, enter a name for the group (e.g. "Clinic – general") and the hashtags it contains.
  5. Click Save and Apply. The hashtags are added to the post and the group is saved.
  6. On future posts, click # and pick the saved group to add it to the text.
  7. Stay within the maximum of 30 hashtags per post.

Add the automatic first comment

  1. On the same post, find the Follow up Comment field.
  2. Write the comment: for example, the link to your website or booking page (handy on Instagram, where links in the caption aren't clickable), or extra hashtags to keep the caption clean.
  3. Schedule or publish as usual. Right after the post goes live, the planner posts that comment on your behalf.

Tips

  • Network algorithms reward comments soon after publishing; a first comment from you helps kick things off.
  • Create several small hashtag groups and combine them, rather than one giant group for everything.
  • With the CSV import you can also fill in the follow-up comment in bulk, in its own column.

Common problems

  • The comment didn't appear on the post → The chosen network doesn't support follow-up comments, or the account lost its connection. Check the supported networks list and reconnect the account.
  • The Instagram post failed due to too many tags → You have more than 30 hashtags across the caption and the comment. Reduce the number.
  • In the Facebook group the comment was posted as another Page → The comment is posted by the Page set in the Social Planner settings. Change the Page there.
  • I can't find the hashtag group I saved → Click the # icon inside the composer: saved groups appear there for you to pick.
