How to manage stock, SKU and weight for your store products

Go to Payments › Products › Inventory, update the quantity of each variant, turn on Continue selling when out of stock if you want, and click Save. SKU, weight and dimensions are filled in on each product price/variant page.

Updated on

Before you start

  • You need permission to edit products in Payments.
  • Products must already have prices or variants: stock, SKU and weight live on each price/variant, not on the product.
Where to find it

Payments › Products › Inventory

Step by step

Update stock

  1. Open Payments and, in the Products menu, click Inventory.
  2. Search for the product by name, variant name or SKU.
  3. Enter the new quantity for each variant.
  4. If you want to accept orders even at zero stock, turn on Continue selling when out of stock for that variant.
  5. Click Save to apply (or Cancel to discard). You can't leave the page with unsaved changes.

Fill in SKU, weight and dimensions

  1. Open Payments › Products and click the product.
  2. In the prices/variants list, click the variant (tiles highlight on hover). If you just created the price, save the product first: the variant page only opens after saving.
  3. Fill in the SKU, weight and dimensions, and turn on inventory tracking if you want to track stock for that variant.
  4. Save.

Tips

  • On the Inventory page, clicking a variant opens that variant's detail page.
  • Weight is used to calculate weight-based shipping rates in your shipping zones.
  • Variants without a SKU show as "NO SKU" in the inventory list.
  • The SKU also appears on order packing slips.

Common problems

  • I can't navigate away from the page → There are unsaved inventory changes. Click Save or Cancel.
  • The variant doesn't show in search → Search by the exact variant name or SKU; if it has no SKU, use the product name.
  • I can't find the weight field → It's on the price/variant page, not the product's general form. Create and save the price, then click it.
  • The product sold out and can no longer be bought → That's normal with inventory tracking on. To keep accepting orders, turn on Continue selling when out of stock.
